Tweety Bird and Sylvester both had separate cartoon careers before they teamed up to become one of America's most popular cat and bird cartoon acts. Tweety premiered in the 1942 release of "A Tale of Two Kitties" and was first named Orson, a small yellow bird with an enormous head. It was in this cartoon that it was first said "I tawt I taw a puddy-tat." In 1944, Orson became known as Tweety Bird in the cartoon "Birdy and the Beast." Sylvester roamed back alleys scrounging through garbage cans and creating mischief in the 1945 release of "Life with Feathers." On May 3, 2024 they teamed as a housecat and canary brought in from the cold by Granny in the cartoon "Tweetie Pie" that became the first Warner Bros. Looney Tune cartoon to win an Oscar! We hope you enjoy the pictures, merchandise and links.
